Can't find update to Ventura 13.6.2

I'm not ready to upgrade to Sonoma (i don't move on an x .1 upgrade) but see that 13.6.2 is available for my M1 2020 MacbookPro. However, it's not showing up in updates in my system. What am I missing here?

This is one of the articles:

https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/11/07/macos-sonoma-and-macos-ventura-updates-are-here-with-fixes-for-m3-macs

It is in the comments from others:

Our MacBook Air M2 (2022) doesn't see the 13.6.2 update either, only 14.1.1.

This does indeed feel odd, particularly since Apple says that 13.6.2 is "recommended for all users" and since 13.6.2 is listed as having (unspecified) security fixes.

Same with my M2 MB Air 13". In another forum someone said that 13.6.2 is only for MB Pros, not Airs. But I can't find anywhere on apple.com that says that.

I will look for others.

Take a closer look at the software update panel. There will an update for Sonoma and below that will be the wording, "Another Update is available" with a More Info… link. When you click that, a new panel will appear offering the update to Ventura 13.6.2 and probably Safari 17.1.2 as well. Sonoma will NOT be installed via the More Info link.

The article, which I can't find now, said 13.6.2 is recommended for everyone, as it contains security updates. This doesn't solve my problem, but I'm going to give up.

The list on Apple's site of who can run Sonoma isn't as helpful as a direct statement like yours, saying it was only for the models you specified.

I appreciate your persistence, thank you.

Yes. I agree. My MBR is 13" M2 2022. I think whoever wrote this for Apple simplified the statement without calling out the exceptions.

Perhaps this is because Apple discontinued this model in Oct '23 and they want me to upgrade to Sonoma. However, my company keeps telling me to not upgrade to Sonoma, but our IT security software is trying to force me to upgrade to 13.6.2, which is not available. It is frustrating. I am getting "you must upgrade to 13.6.2" interruptions every 5 minutes now, with no way to comply. It is a cluster. I bought the computer less than 12 months ago and apple discontinued it about 6 months after.

****

I had a typo in my comments above. It was missing the word not.

" I have a 13" M2 MBP and 13.6.2 is NOT available for my model."

Can you please tell me how to get Ventura 13.6.2 for the M2 13" 2022 MBP?

The articles that I have found that breakdown the upgrade details by model, do not include my M2 2022 13" MacBook Pro model. I agree that Ventura 13.6.2 is available for M2 MacBook Pros (but NOT all of them AFAIK). The exclusions need to be clear and part of the guidance provided to Security and IT organizations so they enforce policies with the correct exclusions.

Thanks. I read the security release before posting. Not sure I understand the emoji. This document is part of the problem. It needs corrections and exclusions. Or the security update needs to be made available by Apple for my mac. You can't tell people to upgrade to a release in a security update and NOT provide the software release for some models. I hope you prove me wrong by providing more specific details for the 2022 13" M2 MBP.

What's listed when you run this command in the Terminal?

Nothing was listed under "Software Update found the following full installers:"

Software Update found the following full installers:

Then obviously something is blocking updates. The list should include at the very least the version of macOS that came installed on your Mac and every update to the one currently installed.
