Is my VPN working when Setting-VPN status shows “not connected”which contradicts IP lookup tool showing location as per VPN setting?

I need help with finding out if my VPN is working when iPhone is showing not connected but my location is showing same as one of my VPN App as per IP Lookup Tool?

VPN leakage on lost connection and apps I spent a period in a country where I needed a VPN to access the internet. Not the entire planet has complete political freedom. I did not want to expose to the local ISP what I was doing on the net: the websites I was visiting and services I was using. So I used a VPN connection. I configured two VPNs on my iPhone. A public commercial service and a private set up on my own server remotely. Both showed the exact same behavior. I would expect that with a VPN configured on the iPhone all traffic is being routed over the VPN and over the VPN only. That is however not what seems to happen. When the VPN connection gets lost, traffic automatically flows without warning over the open internet. Example: browse to guardian.com using the VPN, website is being displayed VPN connection gets lost in the background Click on link in the webpage Now the browser sends the request over the open internet, the browser action is being exposed (!!!!) Furthermore, it seems that any app can decide what connection (wifi, mobile, vpn) it uses to connect. Actually, lost VPN connections occurred frequently. I suspect the ISP is tracking usage and can see that - all traffic is encrypted - connection to one server only and suspects this to be a VPN connection. So a time out or refusal is being enforced. - Do you have the same experience? - Is there a way to configure a VPN in the IP stack of the iPhone, that no connections can go around it? This can be quite a serious issue for journalists and people in conflict areas.

VPN issues with iphone 17pro Hi I recently got an Iphone 17 pro running iOs 26, I just couldn't get it to connect to the wifi without glitches - one minute connected and the next disconnected, some apps would not load and others kept giving me error messages. I tried resetting routers, turning phone, airplane mode and wifi on and off, the thing that solved it for me was deleting my VPN, everything started working perfectly. I will try reconnecting the VPN from scratch and see if it is stlll buggy, but for anyone who is stumped - try this. Cheers

vpn not connecting after ios upgraded to ios 18.1 1 My iphone 12 max pro after ios upgrade to 18.1.1 , the vpn on it is Not connecting . Kindly advise solution to resolve this issue .

I had difficulty understanding presentation of information and IMHO suggests following presentation.

I need to understand why type of one VPN is device and the other is personal.
