Mac Mini M2 Pro and CPU optimisation

Hello Apple Community,

I recently upgraded from a MacBook Pro 2018 (15-inch, i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) to a Mac Mini M2 Pro (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD). My typical workflow involves using multiple Excel and Pages documents, alongside numerous browser tabs (preferably on Microsoft Edge due to Safari’s slower performance). I always work with my laptop connected to two external screens.

I’ve noticed an interesting performance aspect using CleanMyMac X to monitor CPU and RAM usage. On my previous MacBook Pro, I observed that the CPU usage would increase up to 30%, at which point the laptop would start to slow down and the fans would activate. However, with the M2 Pro, despite higher CPU and RAM usage being indicated, the performance is significantly more responsive and efficient. I can push the system further without experiencing slowdowns.

I am curious about the reasons behind this improved performance on the M2 Pro despite higher CPU and RAM usage. Is this a characteristic of the M2 chip’s architecture, or are there other factors at play?

Additionally, I am seeking advice on further optimizing my new setup. I have transferred all my data from the old MacBook to the new Mac Mini using Migration Manager. I also purchased a Satechi Mac Mini stand with an additional SSD, planning to store less frequently used files on it. Are there any specific recommendations or settings adjustments I should consider to enhance the performance of my Mac Mini M2 Pro?

Any insights or suggestions from fellow users would be greatly appreciated!
