Hi, is there any way to mention someone in these forums? For example, if there's an old post that was never resolved, but is closed to new replies, and I have another comment for it, how do I get the attention of the original poster?
Time here is best spent helping with the latest questions. I totally agree with babowa: In the two decades I've been here, I've see only handful of original posters (OP) return to a thread that is weeks of months old.
Coming here from a search engine can be misleading because search engine hit lists don't discriminate between active and locked threads.
You can post a link to the old thread; however, the chances of the OP seeing it is pretty much zero. With over 3 million users here and the majority never returning after their initial question, it is highly unlikely that they would see it.
