Upgraded iPhone messages indexing

So upgraded from my iPhone 12 Pro to a 14 max pro. My old phone I always did back up onto the computer. In iCloud settings I always had messages, notes, keychain etc toggled to on. The only one toggled of was photos because my library is just to big. Both phones running lates 17 iOS. When setting up new phone I did followed the quick start prompts and transferred everything from phone to phone option. Everything seemed good and in pace until I noticed in messages that when I click contact and info the pictures seem to only go back about a yr and says “more photos will be shown once messages finishes indexing” I know for a fact there’s way more then a years worth on some conversations. Where are they. According to iCloud when I click messages it says 21 gig which is what it was on my old phone. I also notice searching a word in a messages that it’s only going back a years on some conversations. I got texted that should be 10 years of saved . I’ve always had message settings to keeping messages forever. Any thoughts greatly appreciated
