How to insert images into a table's cell in Pages?

Hello,

I searched out a similar question from 2020:

How to manage images inside a table's cell in Pages?

so I guess Pages supported inserting image(s) into a cell of a table in its year 2020 version. Today, I tried an iPad Mini and Pages from iCloud, but neither of them supports this function with Pages.

My purpose is to export a Word docx format file which was opened in Pages, to an ePub file, but the images in the table's cell were removed in Pages, then I tried to insert it in Pages but failed.

Appreciate any kind of useful help and suggestions.

Thank you in advance,

David

You cannot insert an image into a Pages table cell in any version of Pages for any platform. You can tell the cell to fill with an image and you have several options to stretch, scale, etc. Once an image has been set using a cell fill the image cannot be edited, only replaced. Once this is done, you should be able to export the Pages document to EPUB using your preferred EPUB layout choice.

In the following guide, it suggests that you can paste an image into a cell, but in reality that is making the image the cell background as described above.

You are welcome, and back at you for a Thanksgiving feast.

Microsoft Word and inherently its free clone, LibreOffice Writer (on the Mac) allow one to drag and drop an image into a table cell, but Pages, not being a Word clone, was not designed for that purpose. I would expect MS Word for iPad would also support this feature, but that doesn't fill in the blank about EPUB generation, and opening that Word .docx in Pages where it does not support dropped images in table cells probably would not turn out as expected…

MS Word has no built-in EPUB facility and would require post processing by an external application to EPUB, while LibreOffice Writer can export to EPUB.

Thank you VikingOSX and wish you a blissful Thanksgiving day!

I feel regretful that Pages doesn't support this basic feature, I'm writing a book which is for education so it needs a lot of images/diagrams to be put into tables.

The reason I use Pages is mainly because it exports ePub beautifully and better than any other software I tried before, this is also the main reason I bought the iPad.

Sincerely hope Apple Team can add this feature.

Thank you again for your timely reply and kindness.
