Unable to move large amount of videos/pictures from file to photo

Hi all,

I am trying to move ~80 GB of 10000+ pictures and videos to photo. However, file is unable to process without freezing then loss of progress. Files are in jpg, png or mp4 format. I did sanitize the data to ensure no weird format.

Hi, doing in small groups works. However, it is not an easy way. As I mentioned I have over 10000 individuals files. I can try selecting 1000 files by date, so I would only have to do it 10 times. Though, file starts to slow down upon selecting ~ 300 files and freeze at ~900. Batch of 500 works fine but it would take me 20+ individual actions. It will take some times but that’s the best solution here without help from external computer.

If you're transferring files from an iPhone 15 Pro Max to a computer (Mac or PC), here are more specific instructions:

  1. Transferring to a Mac:
    1. You can use the Photos app on your Mac to import photos and videos from your iPhone. Connect your iPhone to your Mac using a USB cable.
    2. Open the Photos app on your Mac.
    3. Your iPhone should appear in the sidebar or as an import option. Click on it.
    4. Select the photos and videos you want to import, then click on the "Import Selected" or "Import All New Photos" option.
    5. If you encounter freezing or loss of progress during this process, try importing smaller batches at a time.
    6. During importyour photos to Mac/PC and used Delete after Import --? Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod ...
  2. Transferring to a PC:
    1. On a PC, you can use software like iTunes, iCloud for Windows, or File Explorer to transfer photos and videos from your iPhone.
    2. Connect your iPhone to the PC using a USB cable.
    3. If using iTunes, open it and select your device. Go to the "Photos" tab and choose the option to sync photos.
    4. If using File Explorer, your iPhone should appear under "This PC." Open it and navigate to the DCIM folder to manually copy photos and videos to your PC.
    5. iCloud for Windows allows you to sync photos between your iPhone and PC if iCloud Photo Library is enabled on your iPhone.
    6. Please see the pic below on Surface Pro Windows 11.

Where are you moving them to a Mac or a PC?

You said "I did sanitize the data to ensure no weird format."

Regarding sanitizing the data to ensure no weird formats, it seems there was a misunderstanding. "Sanitizing" typically refers to removing sensitive or unwanted data, rather than ensuring file format compatibility. If you were referring to checking file formats, ensuring they are in common formats like JPG, PNG, or MP4 is generally sufficient for compatibility with most devices and applications. How was that checked is also not clear.

Hi all, thank you for your reply. Sorry if I didn’t phase my question correctly. All the data are already moved into my phone’s internal storage. The problem I have is that photos don’t automatically import the pictures from file, and I would like to move those files to photos. In file, I select all pictures and press the share icon, trying to save image to photos. That’s when the file app freeze and became unresponsive.

I guess it’s not a good idea to directly import photos from local storage, but I would have to move files to a computer to import back into photos?

New iPhone 15 Pro Max w/256k memory, running latest update (iso17.4). I have 10 or so videos ranging from 1.20 - 3.60. I have tried to copy these videos to three different items, ie. a San Disk memory stick, Seagate backup drive and a WD backup drive. I have successfully copied photos to each of these devices, however, I am unable to copy the videos. I’ve tried using “save to files” and “export unmodified original” but nothing works. when I select share, go to Browse, select the “location” where to send the video, but the “save” option isn’t available (it’s blacked out).

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
