CAC Reader no longer works after Upgrade to Sonoma

After upgrade to Sonoma logging in to any website that requires DoD cert impossible. I did delete and reinstalled all certification from DoD page, I did reinstall CAC reader drivers; system can see the Card reader as well as all certs on a Card. I did the steps to unpair the reader and re connected with the system. I did clear web data in a browser, still no luck. It looks like web browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge) is not requesting a CAC reader, but I can sign documents in Adobe and log in to Mac by using CAC.

If your CAC reader needs drivers, they may not compatible with Sonoma, but since everything else seems to work, probably ok.

You should not need to pair the card as that just makes login and authentication a pain.

Try using a private session in Safari. It prevents auto-selecting a cert.

I have had no problems using a CAC on Sonoma.

Same issue here. Except... I have another Mac on Intel hardware (the last revision before moving to Apple Silicon). Both running Sonoma. The Intel Mac running Sonoma works with the CAC card very well, the one with Apple Silicon (new, M3) does not work with Safari or Firefox. Chrome works, however.
