Can Touch ID be disabled on newer iMacs?
I want a new iMac, but the one I want has touch ID. I don't want to use touch ID. Can I use an Apple keyboard without touch ID on the iMacs that come with touch ID keyboards?

Yes. You can also use a third-party keyboard.
You can turn Touch ID off if you want so it will not prompt you. Below are the steps.
You're welcome. FWIW, you don't have to use Touch ID even with the Touch ID keyboards. You can still type and enter passwords manually.
Thanks for the reply.
I want to use an Apple keyboard but not the touch ID keyboard. In fact, it seems the touch ID keyboard comes with the iMac I want. I wonder if they would let me have the other kind of keyboard instead.
(I have no fingerprints, and that seems to be necessary to use the touch ID effectively.)
Okay. That's what I hoped would be the case.
One more question.
If I choose not to use touch ID, will there be frequent prompts urging me to use touch ID? For example, will I have to opt out every time I restart my computer or take updates?
Thank you very much.
Your welcome.
