why can't power down since update?

Charged last night, saw the nighttime charging screen with red clock for the first time, so assume an update went through. 


Now phone is locked up, white screen when going unlocked, and the power off button hold is not working. I do feel a haptic bump when I hold the lock button. Nothing happens, though.


I'm moving to primary on call for a fortune 20 retail company tomorrow for Black Friday, so this is an inopportune time for an update issue, as I have security tokens I need on the phone.


Going to have to jump through a LOT of hoops to get work moved to a different phone by tomorrow.


Only thing I think I can do is let it die, and reset that way.

To power down you need to hold the volume and power off button at the same time and it will display a sos call and a power off button respond quickly after pressed to avoid connecting to SOS not in an emergency.
