Recovery mode after Apple Service

Had a busted screen on my MacBook Air M1 and left it for service at the Apple Store to install new screen.

After I got it back the Mac is in recovery mode and says the operating system needs to be reinstalled.

when I go into disk utility it shows that the drive has data on it. So I’m guessing Apple did not erase the drive.

Im not sure how recent my backup is so would rather not restore from Time Machine.

What are my options? I can’t seem to get out of recovery mode. If I reinstall Sonoma will it erase my data as well?
