MacBook pro 2017 potential flex cable issue?

Earlier this week I had an issue where my MacBook screen didn’t turn on, tried all the reset codes and nothing happened. The next morning everything worked fine and i made sure to start the update process. I let my MacBook go to sleep, when I came back the screen would not turn on, it lasted for the whole day. The software update installed. The next day it turned on and had no issues (I kept the screen from sleeping and did not move the computer). I took it to the Apple Store and they told me it’s a $500 fix to replace the screen and display flex cable, at that point I’m getting a new computer. Ever since the trip to the Apple Store, although I have not used it a lot, I have had 0 issues. I have noticed no lines in the screen or nothing when I fold the laptop up and down. Ran a diagnostics and nothing was wrong. I am looking for some advice on what to do, Black Friday sales are going on the next couple days and was wondering if I should bite the bullet on a new computer, or was this just a weird issue that has nothing to do with the flex cable?
