Sync’ing photos on iMac 27”

Trying to sync my iMac with Photos - iPhone. iPad and MacBook all sync up and display my libraries properly. Not so much on the iMac.

When I select “Preferences/Settings” I am showing the library grayed out. The other devices are point to a library. So how do I switch that directory? I think that is the problem. Thanks in advance.

Photo (iPhoto) sync not working on old iMac (Sierra) I have an old iMac running Sierra which uses iPhoto. I need to use the iMac CD/DVD drive to read and import some old photo discs to the photo library and then have it sync to my iCloud Photos. I’m able to import the photos to the library however the photo library on the iMac will not finish syncing to the cloud so that I can see all photos on all of my newer devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air). It used to sync without issue, but now It seems to be stuck and won’t sync any photos dated after Feb 2024 including the photos that I just imported into it which are older than that. I’m now not sure how many photos on the iMac have never finished syncing to the cloud. I’ve tried logging out of iCloud and back in but that didn’t work. I’ve tried repairing the library file but that didn’t work either. What other things can I try to get the library on the iMac to finish syncing all of the photos? I don’t want to lose any photos and want to avoid creating multiple photo libraries so that I don’t end up with lots of duplicates.

Photos Libraries on more than one device I have a MacStudio and a MacBook Pro = I thought I had my main Photoslibrary on my Studio but I went on a trip and used my MBP and its Photoslibrary a lot = and it’s listed as the system library on my MBP. And when I went to my Studio I found various photoslibraries but they were topic-limited and I didn’t find the larger general one. Is it possible to have a System photos library on one device separate from the system photos library on another? Or should I have one system photos library on a ‘master’ machine and then what about accessing it on the other? Thanks.

After Migration Assistant to New Computer, Can't Sync Photos Library to iCloud I used Migration Assistant to move my files from an iMac to a MacBook Pro. I moved everything except the Pictures folder because my Photo Library was too large for this disk drive. I have a new blank Photos Library, but I am not able to sync it with iCloud Photos. When I try to sync under System Settings, it asks for my computer password, and then says: Open Photos to choose or create a library to use with iCloud Photos I click the Open Photos ... button, and it takes me to Photos. But it never syncs, and the toggle is never set to On. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you
