My Sandisk Extreme Pro should read and write up to 20Gbps. How can I get this to work with a brand new Mac Studio M2 chip Thunderbolt 4 port? It's only clocking about 900MBs.

When it comes to the USB standard, the Mac Studio's Thunderbolt 4 ports support up to USB 3.1 Gen 2, NOT 3.2. That would limit it to a maximum of 10Gbps.

I'm using the Blackmagic Speed test app with the cable that came with the SSD. It's not a Thunderbolt 4 cable. No other devices are connected.

Which exact SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD model do you have? I just checked and one I found is only capable of read/write speeds of up to 2000MBps (~16Gbps).
What are you measuring? Bandwidth or data throughput? How are you measuring it?
What is the total length of the Thunderbolt 4-capable data cable you are using to connect this drive to your Mac? Do you have any other devices connected to this same port (daisy-chained)?
No, you are still limited by what your Studio's ports can support.
FWIW, I use a OWC MiniStack STX with my M2 Pro Mac mini. I have it configured with both an SSD & a HDD. The HDD is dedicated for Time Machine backups. Overall performance is phenomenal. Backup taking very little time to complete ... even the initial full one.
