So far: I've just reduced the opacity to: 0 ;leaving a marker like *. or # to remind me where it is on the page. I can click on the pic and move the opacity back to 100% to review or preview my hidden images. It's not as easy s in Word where you can use the symbol for a paragraph:
All you can do in Pages to hide an image is set its opacity to 0% in the image's Style panel. It still occupies the same location in your document.
There is nothing preventing you from inserting the pilcrow ¶ symbol in a reduced size text box that is grouped with your image. Use the Emoji's and Symbol panel, search for pilcrow and then double click the symbol beneath the text string Unicode name to insert into the text box.
Pages was never designed to be a Word clone.
