trouble finding/connecting to synology NAS after upgrade to macOS 14.1 (Sonoma)

I use a Synology NAS DS920 for use with Time Machine. It was working fine until I upgraded to macOS 14.1 Sonoma from Ventura. After the upgrade I couldn't reconnect to the NAS in Finder and I couldn't discover the NAS in Safari using find.synology.com. However, I could from Chrome. From Terminal I couldn't ping the NAS using it's hostname but I could ping it using it's IP. In the end we figured out a workaround using Time Machine command line in Termal using it's IP but I shouldn't have to fart around with it like that. It should just work. Anyone know anything about why or if upgrading to Sonoma would be a problem? Thanks!

Granted, I am using a really old Synology DS110j with v5.* manager software but upgrading from Big Sur to Ventura to Sonoma 14.1.1 did not change my ability to mount shares from the NAS, or ping it in the Terminal via its name.local syntax. I literally needed to change nothing to continue using the Synology. I also do not use it for Time Machine backups. I have assigned a reserved, static DHCP IP address for this NAS that is below the normal DHCP address assignment range.

I suggest you apply any available updates to the DS920, the DiskStation manager software, and the Synology Time Machine package. Power down your Mac, and the Synology, then reboot in opposite order.
