I have iphone 12. I had a calendar that was not backed up to icloud. when I got icloud and backed up my phone, all events in my calendar disappeared. I tried to restore frim icloud, reboot iphone. No luck.
Thank you. Once I logged in to my iCloud on the web, I saw my old calendar and then I turned on iCloud calendar on my phone and refreshed it. Thank you for your help.
Calendars don’t back up. They sync to email accounts. If you deleted an email account or it is disabled the calendar events synced from it will disappear.
ALL calendars are connected to an email account. By default, iCloud, but you can sync to any other email server; gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo, AOL, etc. Go to Settings/Calendar/Accounts. Each email account will be listed, and you can see which ones say Calendar. If none say Calendar you don’t have a calendar to sync to.
No, you think wrongly. The iPhone calendar app has NO calendars; it is just an app for displaying calendars that sync to your iPhone. This is also true for Contacts, Notes, Reminders and other functions.
Open the Contacts app (NOT Phone/Contacts). Do you see Lists at the top left? Tap on it, and it will show the various potential sources for your contacts. Each source is a “list”. Or follow my previous advice that you just responded to.
Thank you. I don’t believe my iPhone calendar was connected to an email account. I did not delete any email accounts. Bc something similar happened years ago when I tried iCloud, I have avoided the cloud. I finally decided to get it and turned off icalendar sync. Then I backed up my phone and calendars were gone (my schedule and birthdays).
Yes, I think the calendar I had was just on my iPhone calendar app and was not connected to any email account. The question is why and where all my data went just because I did a back up to iCloud and purchased iCloud storage.
