Apple self service repair

I’m self repairing my MacBook Pro M1 14” (A2442) using the corresponding repair manual provided by Apple (https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/2000/MA2085/en_US/macbookpro-14-2021-07300326A-repair.pdf ) for repairing this MacBook I need to replace the touch-ID sensor/power button, following the manual Apple provided the reassembly can be finished with system configuration (Apple configurator) is it true that replacing the Touch-ID board doesn’t require replacing the logic board too? And by using the Apple configurator could the Touch ID be fully functional?”

On the Apple Silicon Macs, the Touch ID can be replaced independent of the Logic Board (Intel Macs are different). However, the reverse is not the same....if the Logic Board is replaced, then the TouchID must also be replaced.

Apple Configurator is not used in the repair. You will need to have someone run the System Configuration service utility for you as indicated by @leroydouglas. The majority of repairs to these new Macs will require the use of the System Configuration service utility.
