I f I can’t wear my watch in the shower how can I be safe from falling?

I have fallen several times. My main reason for buying a watch is to get help if I fall. The shower seems like a place that I would be in danger of falling. Now I have just read that I shouldn’t wear my watch in the shower because of the possibility of getting soap or shampoo on it. If the watch is placed on a shelf and I can’t reach it how would that help me?

There are health monitoring companies that provide fall detection equipment suitable for the shower. They are monthly subscription services that include an in-home device either connected to your home phone line, or they use cellular, and can provide a cellular mobile device for away from home.

It is not as cheap as the one-time cost for an Apple Watch, but it is more effective and not subject to the soaps used in a shower or bath.

My Mother-in-Law was using one of these services.

The watch doesn't always meet everyone's needs. You can wear your watch in the shower but as you know, Apple advises against subjecting the watch to harsh chemicals that can eat away at the seals and then make the watch susceptible to water damage. The watch's warranty doesn't cover water damage.

The Watch may be better at detecting falls on dry land!
