Googleing ipad restrictions in China nothing shows up. The Chinese government just ok the sale of the iPad. If you need to call someone, call (US) Customs. You could also call a travel agentcy. The Chinese embassy won't help you.
There has been reports from people in these forum having no problem taking an iPad to China.
Chinese customs are confiscating iPads and requiring the owner to pay a tax to get it back. I travel to China every 6 weeks and i wont be bringing mine until this is sorted out.
In just got taxed by the Chinese custom for 1000 RMB at Humen 4 days ago for bringing in an IPAD. I bought this IPAD in September and I only have one IPAD and one lap top. I bought this IPAD from China itself and it is also for personal use. I turned on my ipad top\ show the custom that it is all my personal stuff but it is useless. They still taxed me 1000RMB. This is ridiculous. The IPAD is not in a box and it is for my personal use and only one unit. SILLY!!!!
