Iphone Books Audiobooks library list intermittent

I have encountered a wierd problem. I have a library of about 60 audiobooks downloaded onto my iPhone using iTunes. All the books are in .m4b format.

I use Books to access them. As I scroll through the list in the library function, all the titles appear normally and in order. However, SOME of the titles appear only briefly for about a second as they enter the scroll window and then turn blank and remain blank until Books is restarted. After restart the same thing happens though not always with the same titles! Once the entries are blank, they still occupy space in the listing but are completely inaccessible.

This only happens in the iPhone, not on a Mac (Books) or on a PC (iTunes).

I have tried deleting and re-uploading the audiobooks, restarting, all to no avail.

iPhone 14 running latest updates.

This is frustrating, to say the least.

Any Ideas?
