iOS 17.1.1 updated without my knowledge

Woke up to find my iPhone updated to iOS 17.1.1 last night. I didn’t ask for update, didn’t agree to update, it just came in out of the blue. Opened phone today to see screen saying update had happened. Only option was to click continue. Next page was to add the facial recognition, I clicked set up later. Next page is forcing me to add passcode otherwise I can’t access my phone. I have an autistic son. I cannot use any type of lock or passcodes on my phone or iPad. He doesn’t understand them. He’d never remember a number passcode. In an emergency he would never be able to call any family for help. If I get hurt or have any emergency medical issues, he’ll never be able to get any help. I now have a brick I’m paying 110$ a month for. My iPad did the same thing when it updated, but gave me the options to setup later. I can just ignore the reminder in settings.

If you were to take a moment and actually pay attention to the prompt to set a passcode, you will see a link for other options, including the option to not set a passcode.

If you don't see that, set a passcode, then go into settings and remove it.
