I need to figure out how I can remove my mom's ex-boyfriends Apple ID off of the iPhone my mom bought for him and put on her account as he no longer needed it but refuse to figure out the email and password because his son set it up for him and didn't like that he was dating my mother I have the original electronic receipt for the phone and the phone was on my mom's account for quite a while May still be on there but I don't know because the phone is currently locked to owner

This basicly becomes an activation lock problem

First make sure you save any information you want to keep out of the phone, you will have to restore the phone and not restore it from a backup (the backup would bring the activation lock back)

To remove the activation lock you can either remove it with the correct Apple id and password

Or if you are unable to do so, and you have proof of purchase, you can apply for Apple to remove the activation lock

See this guide:

How to remove Activation Lock - Apple Support

The step to remove without knowing the Apple ID is under Start a support request

then "Get started" on the next page

You would need to restore the iPhone after removal of the activation lock

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Don't restore a backup from when the apple ID was on the phone.

Good luck!

You only have 2 possibilities to ever be able to use the device:

  • Provide the Apple ID and Password that it is asking for.
  • Start a request to remove the Activation Lock by following this support article. You will have to provide the original receipt showing your Mom purchased the iPhone and it will also have to have the serial number of the device on the receipt.
