[Numbers] Help! Conditional formatting tips

Hello all, first post not sure how to work Apple Numbers conditional formatting or if this is even possible on this

On Apple Numbers if I have an excel sheet is there any way I can use conditional formatting based on the cells used in a formula?

So let’s say I have Cell A which is the sum of Cell X,Y, & Z, is there any way I can apply a conditional formatting rule to my spreadsheet on any cell used in the formula for Cell A? So in theory would highlight Cell X,Y,& Z since these 3 are used in the formula for Cell A

Thanks for any help

Like what it does when you click on a cell that has a formula in it? Conditional formatting will not do that. It highlights based upon the value in the cell. But lots of things are possible with some work. I think it might be possible to do it with some effort and complexity if all the cell references are to single cells in the same table, not ranges or cells from multiple tables.

In another table,

  1. Use FORMULATEXT to turn the formula into text
  2. Each other cell in that table uses FIND and REFERENCE.NAME to see if it is referenced in the formula's text. If so, it will duplicate the value from the corresponding cell in the original table
  3. The highlighting rule for the cells in the original table will compare the cell value to the value in the corresponding cell in the other table.
