SSD drive not visible in finder even after checking "show Hard Disks" in Settings

iMac 21.5" running Ventura 13.2.1, I have a ScanDisk SSD attached I saw the drive last time I was booted, but when I restarted the computer after installing a VST for GarageBand I no longer see the disc in finder or disc utility. This is the same disc I have for time machine and that doesn't appear either in finder.

I'm trying to us it for virtual instruments in GB. Where did it go? and How can I get it back?

You should not use the Time Machine drive for other things.

Is the drive still available for Time Machine or does it not even appear there?

I am suspecting that the drive may have either failed, or somehow is not getting enough power from your mac.

Is it connected directly to your mac, or through some hub or dock?
