Amazon just told me that their music app will not work properly on my iPhone 7, despite it running the most recent software version, because the phone is too old and their app is designed to work on newer models.
Does this sound correct?

It's very possible. The latest version of iOS that the iPhone 7 can use is iOS 15.7, whereas the very latest version of iOS released by Apple is currently iOS 17.1.1
To use later versions of iOS and apps that require later versions you would need a newer iPhone.
Sadly, this is indeed a fact. And it’s not just Amazon doing it. My iPhone 7 is in perfect condition after about 8 years, but barely works anymore. My wife who is in IT manager, also confirmed it saying that it’s too much work to support the 7. Well then, I think it’ll be too much work for me to replace it with another iPhone! 😡Android looks pretty good these days
