For my old imac 21.5 2011 10.12.6 :
My wireless mouse is failing badly. Takes forever to communicate. I need a new mouse so I can back up information before I buy a new computer asap. What mouse can I buy that will work for me on this antique?

Just about any wired mouse should work just fine, and should be a good thing to have for situations like this.
If you perfer to use a wireless mouse, the one that, most likely, came with your 2011 iMac, or at least offered by Apple, was a version of the Magic Mouse.
