When I open Apple Tv, it only shows what I have already purchased. How do I search for TV shows to watch, buy? There is no search button, no way to get to the store for movies or TV

All editions have a Search field.
Most editions have a Store (select third party device models and the web excepted).
The website tv.apple.com is only for Apple TV+ subscription access, not Store content. Use the iTunes app instead.
