Missing documents in the document folder

I have a Macbook Air running MacOS 13.4.1. When I save Word documents in the Documents folder they don't appear in the folder. If I open Word, it shows recent documents. If I open that document in Word, it says that it is saved to my Mac in the Documents folder. Any thoughts?

Why are pages not saving to Documents? I bought a new imac (july 2024), and noticed that when I "save" a document from pages, it does not go to my documents folder, in fact, it doesn't even ask where I want it to save, and it doesn't have a "save as" prompt. I can see some documents under "recent" tab, but not all documents are there. I cannot change where documents are saved under preferences, as there is no place to do so. WTH? My documents always saved to my documents folder, and that's where I need them to go.

Downloaded documents not appearing on the downloads folder Its macbook Air Once I've downloaded a file or image and want to use it, I'm unable to see it in the Downloads folder. Why is that so?
