Do not know Apple’s position on tattoos.
But based on posts in these user-to-user forums, opaque ink blocks the green light used see blood flowing through your blood vessels.
As far as I know that has not changed.
There have been conflicting reports on improve ld Wrist detection, that would allow using Apple Pay, iPhone unlock when wearing a mask and unlocking your Mac. Both positive and negative reports, which could just the kind of tattoo each user had.
If you are thinking of getting an Apple Watch, I would suggest getting an in-Store demo for 20-30 minutes of wearing time before you buy.
Or as Apple’s return policy for Christmas extends to January 8th, 2024, maybe buy, try, return.
