MAC Generating Multiple music Libraries in Multiple Subfolders - Help!
I have totally confused what my Mac is doing with my music files. This has been going on for a LONG time first on my old iMAC and now on my new Mac mini. I don't understand why the system keeps creating new libraries and setting up new subfolders. Here are the steps I take to view my music libraries:
- Hold option key while opening Music.
- Click Choose Library.
- I am shown four folders: Audio Music Apps (4 items), Garage Band (No Items), Media (1 Item), Music (4 items).
- I click on Music and am shown two folders and two files: Media (2 Items), Previous Libraries (7 Items), Music Library, Old Music Library
- I click on Previous Libraries and I am shown 3 Music Libraries, 2 Old Music Libraries, Previous Libraries Folder and Media Folder.
- I click on Previous Libraries and I am shown 2 Music Libraries, 1 Old Music Libraries, Another Media Folder and another Previous Libraries Folder.
- This continues for 3 more subfolders.
What is going on? I have never to my knowledge created a new music library other than the original one years ago. I have added music periodically over time but it seems when I do the system generates a new library. It also appears when I make a new playlist it somehow becomes a new library. Many of the files in the Previous Libraries seem to be identical or with a slightly different list of music.
Any assistance anyone can provide would be appreciated. I would like to get all this merged so that I have one music library and multiple playlists of certain types of music. Thank you.
