Can I buy one AirPod?

Yes, bring your case and the AirPod you still have to an Apple store, or contact support. They will verify the serial number and sell you a single AirPod. I've only ever had it done in person but I think somebody from Apple needs to do something to make the new AirPod work with your existing one.
