New Macbook

I recently bought a Macbook through Amazon, a used one. I noticed that the macbook is beyond slow and has a fanning noise coming out once I open it, I’ve only had it for 4 hours. I want to return it but I’m not able to Erase All Content and Settings

MacBook Pro Issues with Sonoma 14.6.1 Similar to other concerns on this forum, right after I (finally) downloaded Sonoma (last week) my MacBook Pro started acting up - the fan runs almost all the time, the computer gets super hot, and the battery life is awful. I have done nothing else to my computer, and it hasn't given me any problems until this update. I did turn off the screensaver and maybe that's helped a little. I'm suspicious, as other people have mentioned on this forum, that it's not a coincidence, and it's Apple's way of trying to nudge me to spend thousands of dollars on a new laptop. Sincerely regretting my decision to upgrade.

I currently have 3 MacBooks - all with the same issue - 2 are factory reset one has all files cleared / less than 1GB stored on it, ambient temperature is between 60-70 Fahrenheit. The only action is Skype. Another day it will be ONLY Google docs. I'll try removing Adobe software as that's triggered overheating in the past but I am about 3 days away from looking at PC replacements or maybe just get a stone tablet and chisel. I am just so irritated because Apple was meant to be the least stress option. With what confidence would Apple expect me to buy a 2022-2023 model of anything if the most rudimentary use of Apple products overstretches them? Thoroughly stressed out as I have spent a cumulative week trouble shooting, backing up data, clearing, resetting and repeating to NO avail. Yes, this is a cry for help. A cry for a solution. Tell me which past MacBook model I can buy that won't hiss at me. I'll even buy a desktop if I have to. But honestly can we just make it EASY and quiet?

It is telling me “Erase Assistant is not supported on this Mac.”
