Failed software update

Using macOS Big Sur version 11.7.10

Every time I try to update the software I get this notification.

How do I fix?

Need my laptop to work properly for my masters and I am just lost!!!

I can't update macOS. Right now I'm using Mac OS Big Sur 11.6.2. I tried to update my macOS but got a message like this... "An error occurred preparing the update. Failed to prepare the software update. Please try again."

error dowloading big sur 11.7.9 update from 11.7.8 Whilst clicking on "Software Update" for Big Sur 11.7.9 some error occurred during downloading the update. However after restarting and clicking op "Software Update" again, the message reads "Updates Available": macOS Big Sur 11.7.9 and Safari 16.6. But instead of "Start Download" it says "Herstart nu" (Restart Now), which invariably leads to the error "Downloaden mislukt" "Download Failed". No way can I reset the "Herstart nu" (Restart Now). Or any other way to try to download 11.7.9 in any other way. (By App Store or Apple.com or in even trying to reinstal the macOS)

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference. If Safe Mode lets you install the update, then it most likely means you have some third party software installed which is interfering with the normal operation of macOS.
