I would like to go back to an older version of the Mac OS if that is possible. I'm having compatibility issues with software that I use on my MacBook Pro. And the only way to solve it is to go back to an older version of the macOS.

Yes you can but to do so requires that you first backup everything and then completely erase your HD. Then you will have to install the other operating system and reinstall all your apps and data. I wouldn't go there. instead, check to see it your app provider has an updated app that will work with Sonoma. They should. If not, then I would consider moving on to another vendor that adequately supports its customers.
