Stopped receiving calls on iPad after iOS (& iPadOS) update 17.1.1

Prior to the update I was able to receive phone calls on my iPad (as long as it was on the same wi-fi network), or I could pickup a phone call on my iPhone and then change the speaker option to my iPad.

Since I updating my iPad to the latest version that no longer works. I can select the iPad as a speaker (as I can with AirPods) from my iPhone, but nothing happens on my iPad, and the call defaults back to my iPhone after a few seconds.

I followed the steps from the below Apple article:

Make and receive phone calls on Mac or iPad - Apple Support

When following the steps of the article I noticed the following option had been removed from my iPad in the latest update.

  • On your iPad, go to Settings > FaceTime > Calls from iPhone, then turn on Calls from iPhone.

I believe this option’s removal is why I can no longer receive phone calls on my iPad. I don’t believe this was intended. Is there anything I can do?

I did try doing a full shutdown of both my iPad and iPhone already, and that did not resolve the issue.

Thanks for any help you can give me,

-Izzy
