I plan to buy an iPhone 16, currently using an Android phone with a physical SIM. Is there a way transfer the phone book from the physical SIM to the eSIM on iPhone 16?

You can't transfer to the eSIM. You can transfer the contacts to the phone itself or to an email account.

The SIM/eSIM on an iPhone doesn't store your contacts, iPhones get your contacts through an email account.
