Possible to make a Mac bootable USB on my Windows 11 PC?

Hi community members,

Recently, I came across a weird issue and need to reinstall macOS. My MacBook Pro was stuck on Remote Management screen and can't bypass it.

It was working fine all the times after upgrading from Monterey to Ventura. However, this problem occurred after upgrading to Sonoma. I know it is easy to make a bootable USB on Mac. My question is how to create a Mac bootable USB on a Windows PC? I have a Windows 11 PC at home and tried TransMac software but no luck.

This would be done on a Mac only.

What about Recovery—

Recovery (both M1/M2/M3 and Intel) — How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

or Revive or restore a Mac with Apple silicon using Apple Configurator - Apple Support

Yeah, I tried that and it is ok to reinstall the macOS. However, the remote management screen appears again after reinstall. Someone pointed out that I need to install an old version, such as Monterey to fix the issue. So I am look for a way to create a macOS bootable USB on a Windows PC.

It is totally possible to make a mac bootable usb on a PC. However, the process is more complicated than doing it on a Mac with a single line of command (createinstallmedia).

For OP's issue, my suggestion is to download macOS dmg file from Apple:

How to download and install macOS - Apple Support (Sierra InstallOS.dmg)

Then format the USB with GPT partition and burn the dmg to USB. You will have a bootable USB for macOS in a few minutes. Here is the tutorial:

After that, install macOS on your Mac and create a newer macOS bootable USB later with createinstallmedia command.

The one of the issues with Third Party MS Windows Software used to Create a Bootable Installer of macOS stems from it inability to " Bless " the drive

To read more - Terminal application and type

man bless

bless is used to modify the volume bootability characteristics of

filesystems, as well as select the active boot device.

What do you mean by "Remote Management screen?"

Does it say it is being managed by some company? I don't think you're going to avoid that with an older version.

I don't know if anyone has created a tool to create a bootable USB installer on Windows, but I also don't remember anyone pointing out one here.

Yes, and it asks me to sign in. The screen can't be skipped unless the password is entered correctly. I read a reddit post that it could be solved by downgrading to Monterey.

Likely not.

Please take a look at the steps in this tutorial:

I worked great for macOS Sonoma as I did this a week ago. And you can try with macOS Monterey.
