iTunes freezes when trying to recognize iPod U2

I am reaching out looking for help with my iPod U2 Special Edition, which seems to be experiencing issues during the recovery process using iTunes for Windows.

Here is a comprehensive overview of the situation:

  • The iPod appears to be in working condition, but when connected to iTunes, the application freezes.
  • I believe the iPod compatibility program is installed, though iTunes is struggling to determine the appropriate actions for the device.
  • The cable used is confirmed to be functional, as my iPhone 4 syncs with iTunes without any problems.
  • Occasionally, after giving iTunes some time to process and disconnecting the iPod, there is a brief moment where iTunes recognizes the device and prompts me to fix it. However, this recognition only occurs upon disconnecting the iPod.
  • The iPod is currently stuck on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen with the sync icon spinning ocationaly, and iTunes remains frozen.
  • It's worth noting that I am unable to enter "recovery mode" successfully. When I attempt to enter recovery mode by holding the center button and the menu button, the iPod only prompts the help screen with a folder and an exclamation sign.
