calendar item keeps popping back up

Hi there!

I have my Outlook (hotmail) account connected to my iOS calendar. And it looks like I have some spam item in that calendar. I can accept/maybe/decline this calendar invite. But when I decline the invite, it actually is removed but it will pop back up after 2 seconds.

The weird thing is that when I look in my Outlook calendar via my browser, this invitation is not there. Also when I look at my Outlook calendar on MacOS, the invitation is not there. But on my iPhone it's clearly under the calendar of my Outlook account.

Also after turning off and back on my iPhone, the calendar item remains in the iOS calendar application.

The calendar invite has the title "Re: Gefeliciteerd-[mijn-naam]-je-bent-beloond", when I freely translate this to English: "Re: Congratulation-[my-name]-you-have-been-rewarded". And there is also an email in my Outlook mailbox that has that title, but I have reported that email as spam and deleted it.

Does anybody have an idea how I can remove this item from the calendar app. And even more, does anybody know how this item ended up in my calendar in the first place? And why can't I see this on the browser or MacOS calendar app?

A lot of questions, but mostly interested to get this item out of my calendar app...

Thanks for your reply.

This event is actually on a cloud calendar (Outlook). When I hide my Outlook calendar, this event will be hidden as well. That's why I find it so strange the offending event isn't appearing elsewhere.

So, now I followed your advice: I completely deleted my Outlook account from my iPhone (in settings) and then reinstalled it. And now it looks like this event is gone! Let's hope it stays gone!

Thanks again.

There are cloud calendars (iCloud, Outlook, Google, etc.) and On My Mac/On My iPhone/On My iPad calendars. The latter are only on their respective devices, that's probably why you don't see the offending event elsewhere than on your phone.

Can you delete the whole calendar where the event resides, or create a dummy calendar, move the event into it, and delete the calendar?

If the event reappears you may have a dubious application playing games with you.
