Cannot upgrade my MacBook Pro Software

I am currently on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 and need to upgrade my software. It shows upgrade available to MacOS Monterey however when I press upgrade, it keeps giving me error and does not upgrade. I have tried it on two different wifi connections and also do have available storage.

Not sure what the problem is as it doesn't specify and how to solve it. I am currently in India on a business trip and need to download apps which I am not able to do, due to software version being not compatible. Appreciate the help to upgrade.

Thanks

If the update to Monterey is avaliable you might want to install this update via the safe mode

Start up your Intel-based Mac in safe mode

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window.
  2. Log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again.
  4. On either the first or second login window, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

When booted in safe mode, try and update as you'll usually do to see if you can update in this way
