Phone can not see computer for AirDrop

I used to use AirDrop all the time to transfer files between my iphone and my macbook. It always worked perfectly. Then I bought a new iPhone, and now my new iphone can never see my macbook. The phone can see every other device in the room, sometimes dozens when I'm at work. And my macbook can always see my phone. My macbook is set to be visible to everyone and my phone is set to be visible to everyone temporarily when needed. Is there some cache I need to clear? Does Apple give you the ability to fix this, whatever it is?
