Misleading Delivery Dates and Think Twice before Cancel Order

On December 27th, I placed an order for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Initially, the estimated delivery date was set for the next day, November 28th. However, after completing the order, the delivery date changed to Dec1-3。

I noticed the availability of next-day delivery and in-store pickup for a different color. Eager to receive the phone sooner, I decided to cancel my initial order. When I attempted to place a new order for in-store pickup the next day, I encountered an issue – the option was suddenly unavailable during the final checkout. To ensure the iPhone was in stock, I contacted the store, confirming its availability but was informed that I had to place the order online in order to use Apple Account Balance.

Opting for delivery, the system initially indicated a promising delivery date of November 30th. However, during the final checkout, the delivery time once again changed to Dec 5-7. This inconsistent information was disappointing, prompting me to cancel the order once again. It seems that the online information can be misleading, as there appears to be stock in stores, but the preference seems to be for customers to place orders online.

Faced with this challenge, I called customer service. After 4 hours of navigating through various departments, including Customer Service, Goldman Sachs Support, General Apple Support, back to Customer Sales, and Post Sales, none were able to assist me in placing the order I desired. The issue persisted – I could not figure out how to arrange for in-store pickups.

In the end, I no longer had any pending orders. Despite expressing my desire to escalate the matter, every department directed me to submit feedback online myself, yet there were no relevant topics addressing my specific concerns. The experience left me frustrated and without a clear resolution.

Because I used the Apple account balance and canceled the order, the balance is being frozen and can't be used for another 24 hrs. I wish I didn't cancel my initial order.

Unfortunately the amount being frozen seems accurate (same would have happened if you used a CC but likely the hold would remain for more than 24 hrs). Because it’s the holidays it’s likely that the estimated delivery date could change once placing the order is completed BUT it’s also possible that the order could still arrive before the estimated date (pending delays with the shipping service). Not sure what may be going on with the store pickup attempts when ordering but if the system isn’t letting you do it and you want to use your account credit then you will need to place another order for shipping as soon as the freeze is lifted. Maybe there is a glitch going on that may be resolved when you attempt to order once the freeze is lifted (try placing the order for store pickup first and if it still has the issue place the order for shipping and keep an eye on your tracking in case it actually comes quicker than the estimated date. You have to remember the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale just wrapped up so there may have been a lot of orders occurring to get the free gift cards…the volume of orders from that may play a part in the change of dates when completing the order).

Same thing happened to me. Twice. Last year, I've orderd several items and during checkout Apple stated it will be next day delivery. Upon the payment, info has changed and instead I got 4 different delivery dates. Which would usually be fine, but one of those dates was 5 days from projected one and at that time I would already be out of country. I contacted support right away to cancel and their reply was that 'they can't cancel the order after its been paid'. Well, that was a first time I hear something like that.

Today I made a same mistake, during checkout they stated it will be 'express checkout' tommorow. After payement that has changed do day after that, standard delievery.

I understand delivery can be late for many reasons, that is absolutely fine. Just don't lie about it, that is all.
