Mac Mini 1.66 Core Duo starts, but no desktop

I've tried to reset the SMC, PRAM and start in safe mode as well as start from a CD. Keyboard commands are ignored. I have verified that the keyboard works, because it accepts login password. At the log in screen, I get a pop up alert that the disk is full. Once I'm logged in, there is no desktop, no HDD access, no Apple menu. It's all just blank. Any help?

Oh, Disk Full... how'd I miss that?

Boot into restore mode & open Terminal in the Utilities menu, run this command...

diskutil list

How much free space is there?

If you're not familiar with Terminal, it may be safer & better to get an external HDD or SSD, Install OS to that, boot from the external so we can free up some space.

Hi BD,

Thanks for your help with this. I finally have some spare time again to work on this. I cannot boot into any mode at all, the mini is not accepting keyboard commands such as starting from a CD, resetting the SMC, resetting the PRAM, safe mode, or target mode. I know the keyboard works because oddly, it will accept the account password. Using the account password takes me to a completely blank desktop. I do not have an Apple, no finder, no task bar.
