Disk not ejected properly still not fixed in Sonoma

One of many complaints about "disk not ejected properly" endless notifications that Apple promises to fix it, well they're just promises. And yes, the 'put hard disks to sleep when possible' is uncheck!

It's getting annoying each day. PLEASE GIVE US THE SOLUTION!!

Be careful trying to twist other's people words especially in an open forum. You wrote it yourself in your reply above:

You're even so sure, you add "obviously" it's an old firmware and not compatible when I never said that. If you don't have any value or solutions in this issue, at least stop putting words in others people's mouth.

Are these two drives connected directly to the Mac ...?

IF there is a hub involved try bypassing and compare your results.

On 14.1.2. The eject command is not there, right-click or menus, or command-e are not there. The only way I can eject an external disk is using the Disk Utility.

Is this a bug others experience? Is there a fix?

I can't say since I'm not running 14.1.2 on anything. However, I would find it surprising.

Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.

FWIW, certain drives, even different models from the same manufacturer seem prone to eject themselves. No doubt a firmware issue on the drive. However, I have noticed the cable between my M1 MacBook Air and the external drive manages to loosen until I get a not ejected properly message. Plugging it back in firmly cures that issue. I had certain models of drives that ejected themselves only with certain versions of macOS. Which is why I think it's a conflict between the particular drive's firmware and the macOS version.

For me, I haven't had a problem with Sonoma ejecting drives. It seems hit & miss.

Definitely not HDD issues, as this problem didn't exist before two updates of MacOS ago and I've been using the same drives for at least 8 years. And no, the cables aren't the issue as I've checked them too they're fine. At this point, I don't know why Apple loves to fix something that isn't broken.

Maybe you should read your own post.

Okay... I figured it out. I recently installed Tinker Tools to try to make fonts a little more readable on my 4k monitor, and it the "Finder" section, there is a checkbox to disable the "Eject" command. I must have clicked that checkbox without realizing.

Now all is good! (It's those little things) (I wish Apple would allow better control over fonts, especially that now so many of us are using large monitors).

Thanks

Disabling screen saver in preferences worked for me. Not only was I getting the pop-up, but my brand new Lacie 5TB drive was interrupting and quitting Time Machine backups. Methodically worked the issue. Disabling screen saver allowed me to complete a Time Machine backup and the pop-ups were history. Might work for you.

Obviously not the perfect answer. Apple needs to address the issue. Till then, you and I need work arounds. Disabling the screen saver worked for me. Good luck.
