I gave recording access to my MacBook Pro to scammers. How do I wipe my laptop to prevent future access? I fell for a scam by calling a phone number on my PayPal account to claim a refund for unauthorized transactions on my PayPal account. I was instructed to turn on Screen Recording and log into PayPal. I saw transactions being canceled and payments voided. To claim an instant refund, I clicked on a link which downloaded support software. I was still on the phone with the PayPal rep from my initial call. In issuing a refund of $1,000.00, PayPal issued a refund of $100,000 into my bank account. I was asked to log into my bank account to verify the deposit and It was there, a refund from PayPal of $100,000. In order to correct this error, the PayPal rep said I would have to transfer the money back to PayPal using a wire transfer. After 4 days of phone calls from the PayPal scammer, I stopped answering the phone and contacted my bank and filed a police report. I was told to wipe my laptop and close my accounts. How do I wipe my MacBook Pro to prevent future access to my accounts? I'm still getting phone calls from that rep and other scammers.
