Early 2011 13" MBP Stagelight Effect/Backlight Death

So my MBP has the infamous Stagelight Effect. It had this all the time I've owned it (second hand) but recently the backlight gave out. After doing non-Apple-approved techniques (wiggling the display data cable) the backlight has come back. What I worry is if this means my display is a ticking time bomb and will eventually have a real backlight failure that can't be fixed by reseating a cable. Do stagelighted Macs survive?

it depends on where the issue is...

new cable, or a new display or a new display assembly.
