“Add playlist songs” keeps turning ON

I can give you a solution I found, but it’s not fun, and it’s temporary. You need to do this for every song you want to add (I’m sorry, if you’re making a playlist).

Open Settings and navigate to “Add playlist songs.” Keep Music open at the same time. Turn off “Add playlist songs,” then go look up the songs you want to add to your playlist, don’t add it yet. Go back to settings to check the feature is off (it turns on when your back it turned). If it is, go ahead and add your song. After you add the song, the setting will turn on again.

It’s tedious, but a solution.

I was also having this problem but I think I’ve found a temporary solution. Try using a separate device to add music to the library and it should stop the button from turning back on in your phone. What I mean by separate device is like a gaming console or maybe even an Apple TV. Use one of those to add a song straight to the library and the problem should be settled on your phone. That’s what worked for me. Maybe it was something else but it is a promising alternative

Same thing happening to me on Apple Music across all my devices - my current iPhone, MacBook, old iPhone using an older iOS. Seems to be a bug, a lot of users seem to be reporting the same issue at the moment.

If you turn it off, and add a new song it turns back on. So I’ve just been turning off after ever song I add. It gets very annoying when making a large playlist.

i was having this bug before i even updated my phone, i was running ios 16. i thought it was because my phone was 2 updates behind😭 i updated it tho and it’s still happening. i think it’s probably a bug with the app itself

it’s been happening to me too on the last 2 iOS updates. i’ll keep turning it off before adding a song or just resort to updating playlists on desktop until this is fixed - what a bad time to switch back to AM from Spotify

Same here just started with the 1.17.2 update and “add playlist song” keeps turning back on.

I am having this exact same issue. I have tried to toggle it off on both my iPhone and my MacBook but after I add a song to any playlist, I go back to my settings to find it toggled back on again by itself. Very frustrating.

same thing is happening to my apple music. i noticed it this morning, and thought that maybe it was just because my phone wasn’t updated, but i installed the newest update and it’s still an issue. thank god i’m not the only one tho😭

Same issue with me. Everytime i add a new song to my playlist the album appears in my library and everytime i go to settings to turn off the “add playlist songs” it keeps turning on by itself and its very annoying. So glad im not the only one experiencing this, i hope its just a bug because i will go crazy😂😂😂

I’m glad you made a discussion for this because the same thing has been happening to me. I found it odd because I never download it to my library and I noticed that every time I add a song to my playlist it adds to the library which I don’t like

100% agree! Terribly annoying and if this is not fixed, I will probably migrate all my playlists to Spotify after Christmas. When managing a dozen different playlists with adding new music, cluttering the library like this is a huge dealbreaking issue! Fix this problem, or you'll have one of the worst music apps on the market!

thank god i'm not the only one. i just got the bug today! it's so aggravating . i'm on IOS 17.1.2 with an iPhone 13 Mini and it appears to be happening with everyone. apple please fix this i need my melanie martinez 🤧

same, i'm not able to add songs to any playlists now without it adding to my library as well. this setting has always been off for me but today it glitched and won't stay off. i've always had this setting off bc it's annoying how removing a song from your library removes the song from every playlist. which is annoying because adding songs to your library has some nice features, but i'm not tryna deal w the mess that my music app becomes when i do that.

this is ALSO happening to me! i absolutely hate having such a cluttered and unorganized library but it keeps turning on after every single song i add and nothing seems to be helping. i hope that this is just a bug and it will be fixed soon. (i have an iphone 12 on 17.1.2)
