“Add playlist songs” keeps turning ON

Only started happening tonight as on Dec 1st, 2023 around midnight. I keep this feature off cause I don’t like a crowded, messy library. But as of tonight when I go to add new songs to my playlists, the “Add playlist songs” just turns right back on all by itself. And the songs/album are shown in my library. This is really irritating.

I’m on ios 17.1.2. Anyone know any sort of solution for this? Maybe just a bug? I already reset my phone and the problem still isn’t fixed.

I can give you a solution I found, but it’s not fun, and it’s temporary. You need to do this for every song you want to add (I’m sorry, if you’re making a playlist).

Open Settings and navigate to “Add playlist songs.” Keep Music open at the same time. Turn off “Add playlist songs,” then go look up the songs you want to add to your playlist, don’t add it yet. Go back to settings to check the feature is off (it turns on when your back it turned). If it is, go ahead and add your song. After you add the song, the setting will turn on again.

It’s tedious, but a solution.

Fix this right now Apple! And while you’re at it, make a toggle to turn off “deleting song from library deletes it from playlists.”

And btw I’m only iOS 16.5 and my other phone 16.3.1. (Just got a new phone). It’s not just an iOS 17 thing.

Hey guys I just wanna let y’all know that as of right now the bug has been fixed. Appreciate everyone coming out and discussing this annoying *** problem. Hopefully everyone’s Apple Music is fixed too. Wild few days with ts lol.

p.s. For Apple. If this bug were to happen again in the future. Please make it so when something is added to library and you want it deleted from the library. To NOT take the sings that are downloaded in playlists out. This made this bug 100x worse

Same here. Wouldn’t be quite so annoying if it didn’t also remove the songs from every single one of my playlists when deleting the album from my library.

Toast_Riot - 100% on that. It's always driven me nuts. Otherwise, I'm having the same issue with "add playlist songs" turning itself back on.

I think it’s some bug in ios 17.1.2 because it only started happening after updating to the newest version of the software

The fact that it's happening between iOS and macOS tells me that it's some kind of bug in the background, perhaps in the servers. Probably not something that we can fix on our side with a reset.

Yeah this is very annoying. Deleted a whole playlist without realizing. Basically every time we add any song to a playlist it toggles on. So i have to turn it off every single time i add anything.

Same bug. After disabling this feature, I can add one song and the next time it turns on by itself.

Swear thats the thing I hate the most. Apple should fix that as well. Because if I have downloaded tracks in playlists why should they get removed if i decide to delete it from the library. I decide if I want a track or not in a playlist. Not Apple.

it prob took me a day or two just to set up one of my playlist! i even deleted music app and it still happened. i just got switched to apple music because the spotify ads were annoying. im upset but i dont want to switch back to spotify, however, i might just have too. this bug needs to be fixed, it's actually so annoying

Yes very irritating I keep my library clean. I also can not edit my playlist, it keeps changing it back after I’m done!! Didn’t happen till this last bug update fix, iPhone 13 Pro. My husband iPhone 14 is doing the same, but worse his phone is overheating, killing the battery and won’t charge appt tomorrow at Apple.

I’ve deleted my playlists, I’ve deleted the app, I’ve turned off the playlist thing, I even restarted my phone. Nothing has worked I was able to add music to playlist before without this happening I’ve never had this issue until I updated my phone. I have none of my playlist anymore I see why people stay with android because it’s things like this that happen they constantly have issues with the iPhone.🤦🏾‍♀️
