Share function not working on iPhone 17.1.1

I am having the exact same problem. Brand new iPhone 14 Pro. iOS 17.1.2.

One temporary work around: Go within desired app and insert the desired photo, etc. from there.

For example, go into Messages app, select the plus in the lower left corner and select desire photo.

Or from within the Mail app, tap in the email body, and hit the right carrot and scroll to "Insert Photo or Video", etc.

Hope they come up with a true fix soon, but hopefully this will help you get by until then.

BTW, anyone else having trouble with long text messages? I try to place cursor to a point high in the text. My phone puts the cursor there, but then jumps to the bottom of the message so I can't see or use the cursor point I just selected. I can start typing and it will jump to where the cursor is, but many times I want to do something other than type once I place the cursor there. (Feel free to start this in a new thread if that is more appropriate).

just had a chat with apple online support. told me to sing out from my apple id.

i did so and the problem was fixed! but after signing in again and trying to do the first air drop, the issue came up again!!!!!

as you are signed out there is no problem, as you sign in and do the first air drop, it occurs.

Hi again. What worked for me was a complete backup and restore. It’s a pain in the a** but so far (🙏) I’m having no issues since the restore.

I had the same issue, and it was fixed after an update to 17.3

Ok, restart and holding the on/off button through to the Apple logo appears to have solved the issue .. for now. 🙏🏻

A temporary work around is if you use the plus sign in the lower left of the messages app, then you can share images via text message (which is what I'm trying to share the vast majority of the time).

Hoping for a true fix soon.

I’m also encountering the same thing. I will randomly be able to share after a reboot but then it fails and shows the blank spaces where former contacts or share options were. If I also choose 1 image to share after the first fail it goes immediately into a vertical crop then vanishes. Very strange. 17.1.2 iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I have the very same issue. Date: 01/01/2024 (Just the current date where the issue happen, but I'm having it since I upgraded to iOS 17, couple of months ago)

Restarting the phone makes it work for some short period amount of time, then the problem pops up again. I haven't found any permanent fix or workaround.

Have the same problem with 15 pro max. tried lots of things.

reset all settings.

removed some apps

updated to 17.1.2

and some other things

restarting the phone just let it work once, but not through air drop. only an app like whatsapp. after once, not working again.

nothing worked. anyone with a solution?

Same. Restarting fixes temporarily - sometimes can get a few more shares after a restart, but just now got only one. It’s getting really old. Anyone found a solution yet? I keep hoping each minor iOS update will include a fix….

13 pro, 17.2.1

none of the sharing feature is working. Cant share this photo/document/recording through message/whatsapp/airdrop. None of the feature works. The ios17 update has been the worst update. Tons of bugs. Tons of update and nothing has improved. Instead it was better earlier

Mine is doing the same thing. It’s blank where my contacts usually are listed and nothing works when I click on it. I can’t share links from Amazon or pictures or anything
